- The year was filled with performances at Belmont University as well as "Kate Lee" venues. Kate continued fiddle studies under the direction of Buddy Spicher as well as classical training under the direction of Elisabeth Small. Kate was also chosen to be a member of the Belmont Quartet. In December, Kate also was asked to perform in the nationally televised "Christmas at Belmont" Show.
- Kate persistent as always with her songwriting has many new songs to add to her repertoire. With all this going on, it is hard to believe that she even managed to find time to complete a video-photo-movie segment to accompany her new song; "Where it Goes" (release date 2012).
- Kate's highlight of the year came when Kate was asked to play at the 2011 CMA Award Show as well as the CMA Christmas Show. Kate played fiddle with artists such as Lauren Alaina, Rascal Flatts, Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Scott McCreery, Jennifer Nettles/Sugarland, Brad Paisley, and Keith Urban. Kate even managed to meet Glen Campbell, one of her all time favorite artists, and she was able to play fiddle for the tribute to Glen Campbell during the CMA Award Show.
- The coming year should be just as full and exciting. As Kate is now preparing to go in to the studio and record her new songs which are very much anticipated by all of her fans.
2010
- 9/5/10 Kate is currently enjoying life in Nashville, Tennesse, where she is working towards her college degree in the Music Performance Program at Belmont University. Her concentration is in both Classical and Contemporary violin. With a keen focus on becoming a full-time professional musician/artist/songwriter, Kate has started to assemble a core team of experienced music industry professionals to counsel and advise her. Similarly, she is exploring the musical opportunities that abound on campus and in Nashville generally by 'gigging' and 'jamming' with different musicians as well as attending as many of the concerts and music related events that Nashville and Belmont University have to offer. She has a couple of dates on the books for November and December and will be accompanied by some excellent guitar players. With so much opportunity and so little time, Kate is already burning the candle at both ends, and only wishes she had time to "Do It All". What wonderful music will come from her next? To quote (Briscoe Darling) an old Andy Griffith favorite, "JUMP IN AND HANG ON"…..it is sure to be a wild ride!
- Song written and arranged by Kate Lee for the Granting Dreams Foundation.
- Kate is moving forward into another year and another chapter in her life. Last year brought about more opportunities to write, perform and record some of her original music. Early in the spring Kate was honored when Alison Krauss came out to see her perform at the Commodore Grill in Nashville. Miss Krauss spent much of the evening talking with Kate about how much she liked the direction Kate is going musically, and offered some sound advice. Later in the spring, Kate performed her song, On Your Way with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra at the beautiful Eastman Theatre in Rochester NY. Jeff Tyzik arranged and directed the piece. Kate also found time to write and perform a song for The Granting Dreams Foundation annual benefit dinner held in Nashville TN. The song "When You Dream" was recorded by Kate and a handful of premiere session musicians at Rochester's "world class" studio, Linden Oaks!
- The coming year is already shaping up to be equally as productive for Kate and her band. The calendar is filling up with performances as well as more studio work. Kate has been asked to produce demos for local writers as well as a professional writer based out in LA. She continues to write and record her own music as well as receive instruction from professional violinists and vocalists. All this is going on while Kate awaits results from various music colleges that she applied too, yes she will soon be starting a new musical journey. Stay tuned to see where it will lead her and what new exciting Kate Lee music is sure to result!
